Motorola Pushes Back the CLIQ / CLIQ XT Android 2.1 Update

Which comes as no surprise to many, Motorola has stated in their support forums that they are are pushing back the Android 2.1 update for the Cliq and Cliq XT to optimize some key areas. They also posted on Twitter informing users of the delay.

They have failed to meet their posted Q2 update and let’s see if they can work this update into Q3. Just be happy that Motorola is addressing the issue altogether *cough* T-Mobile *cough* Samsung. Hopefully, you Cliq/Cliq XT users will get the Android 2.1 update in the next few weeks.

Motorola Android device for MetroPCS leaked
Android is everywhere. Folks over at Android Guys have some leaked images of the MetroPCS first ever Android phone. The as yet unnamed device is manufactured by Motorola and it’s running Android 2.1 with MotoBlur. The phone features a 600MHz processor, a 3-megapixel camera, 3.1-3.2 inch screen, and a 4-row QWERTY keyboard. The design of the device is similar to the Motorola Cliq. The circle around the home key may double as a directional pad.
That’s all we know for now. Overall, it’s a good phone, running the same CPU that is in the Droid. So if Droid can be overclocked, then device can also be overclocked. No word on price and release date. Stay tuned for more news.

Is Your Motorola Device Getting An Android Upgrade?

Motorola has officially updated their Android update page. And as you can see it’s looking more believable as time comes near. Leading the way, of course, is the Droid which has completed its Android 2.1 update and the Milestone which is currently rolling out its own update in different parts of the world. Compared to the previous update, the Backflip now has Android 2.1 planned for Q3 and the Cliq and Cliq XT has 2.1 planned for Q2. Unfortunately the Devour’s upgrade is still “under evaluation”. It’s very nice of Motorola to keep us updated on their Android 2.1 plans and I wonder if they’ve gotten the memo that Android 2.2 is making it’s official debut soon?
